Cobalt

Cobalt was the home of the Cobalt Silver Kings. They played in the Sports Palace arena. Cobalt had an estimated population of 30,000 during the early 20th century. Cobalt had a daily newspaper called the Cobalt Nugget.

Cobalt has a population of 1,229 according to the 2006 Canadian Census. In 2001, Cobalt was named Ontario's Most Historic Town by a panel of judges on the TV Ontario program Studio 2. In 2002, the area was designated a National Historic Site. Cobalt's current arena is called Father Les Costello Memorial Arena.
